Dozens of people laid flowers and wreaths at the Heavenly Hundred monument in Kiev, Monday, to commemorate the Euromaidan uprising's third anniversary. Scores of police officers and army personnel could be seen securing the capital's streets.

Nationalists are due to march in Kiev later in the day to celebrate the Day of Dignity and Freedom, an event dedicated to the Euromaidan.

The Euromaidan protests began on November 21, 2013, and escalated on November 30, leading to the removal from power of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich. More than 100 people, later dubbed the 'Heavenly Hundred,' are believed to have died during violence in Kiev between 19 to 21 February, 2014.
