Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the occasion of Diplomat's Day and thanked the whole of Russia's diplomatic corps for their service, in Moscow on Friday.

SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): "I want to congratulate you and all Russian diplomats with this holiday. We know how important, responsible, difficult and even dangerous this work can be. I want to thank you, your assistants, the entire diplomatic corps of the country for all that you do in the interests of Russia, for strengthening its position in the international arena. I want to wish everyone all the best."

SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): "Thank you very much. We have already received your congratulation letter that was read today at our meeting on the occasion of the Diplomat’s Day. Thank you for your kind words that you have written in that congratulations letter and said today."

SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): "I would also like to note that we continue to develop our relations on the issue of terrorism. Your initiatives, released one and a half years ago on setting up a broad anti-terrorism front, have been attracting more and more supporters. All superficial issues are being left behind because people understand that they need to choose priorities."

SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): "We have adopted several dozen agreements on visa-free travel between Russia and other countries over the past two years. The number of our tourists is stable – around 35 million per year. It is interesting that inbound tourism remains at a very high level, 25 million foreigners visit Russia annually."
